Dreamstarter™ Grant Program
Jeremy Dennis
in Southampton, NY (Shinnecock & Hassanamisco Nipmuc)

Jeremy’s dream is to use photography to document sacred sites and other locations on Long Island that are significant to the Shinnecock Indian Nation.
He wants to photograph these sites around Long Island, that are not clearly marked, to increase knowledge of Native history in the area.
The project will create a dialogue between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people on Long Island to promote a new understanding of communal and cultural awareness. It will explore how the Shinnecock Nation came to be located where it is now, and also preserve these sites and related oral histories, and teach new skills to Shinnecock youth.
"The images say: This is where we once were, and are still here. The project will create new meaning and connections in neighborhoods that we may pass every day, but don’t realize their significance." -Jeremy
