The Denver Indian Family Resource Center (DIFRC) started their Summer Youth Camp in 2001. The camp was designed for youth from ages 10-15 in the six county Denver metro area. On average, kids attending the camp represent over 70 different tribes.
Goals of the Summer Youth Camp include: • Increasing cultural knowledge and reinforcing traditional values • Providing positive role models • Promoting literacy • Increasing team building and leadership skills • Increasing spiritual awareness
The camp achieves these goals through lessons in setting up a tipi, hiking, ropes courses, and storytelling.
Running Strong provided general support to this year’s Summer Youth Camp.
