Gardens Basic Needs Seasonal Programs Food on 3/3/15
The 2015 gardening season is off to a great start thanks to a generous challenge from a fellow Running Strong supporter who wants us to be able to plant family gardens on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota! In 1985 the Slim Buttes Agricultural Development Program started with only six family gardens and today, 30 years later, the program supports over 400 gardens on Pine Ridge. With each garden producing fresh food to be shared among family and neighbors, there is the potential for thousands of people to have more nutritious diets as a result of this challenge.
