Running Strong for American Indian Youth® Dreamstarter™ Charmayne Sandoval founded her project, Youth With Creative Minds, to use art to increase awareness of mental health with American Indian youth.

Charmayne is encouraging them to tell of their struggles, ideas and goals in life as well as give support to their peers while expressing themselves however they choose.

“I believe a program like Youth With Creative Minds will increase youth engagement, and utilize their time to think critically, while at the same time allow them to have fun expressing themselves,” Charmayne told us.

And following her first class recently, the results speak for themselves.

Charmayne shared photos of the beautiful artwork the participants created with the goal of learning mental health skills via art.

And we could not have been more pleased to hear from Charmayne that “The beginning of my program has been going tremendously well.”
