Quick update from Rosalia spotlighting a local youth!

5/18/17 in Northern Cheyenne, Montana under Dreamstarter

Northern Cheyenne, Montana

Check out the progress on Kaylannah's fancy shawl outfit.

She is only 12 years old and is a natural artist who caught on to sewing quickly.

Kaylannah has decided to include mountains in her outfit to honor the place she calls home. She included a pink design as well that extends into the four directions. Some have interpreted it as a star, and others have

interpreted it as a lizard. To Kaylannah, it is a lizard, and she chose this since young Cheyenne girls are always given a lizard pouch as babies for their naval.

When we asked her why she wanted to start dancing, Kaylannah said she wants to dance for her family and friends, and to be a role model for her baby sister. Kaylannah also told us that she lost her dad when she was 6 years old from alcohol abuse. So, she wants to dance in his memory, and especially for other kids who know what it's like to lose a family member to alcohol abuse. She is learning how to make Cheyenne regalia and dance for you.
