Dreamstarter Teachers

Young Native students engaged in early education classroom

Running Strong launched Dreamstarter Teacher in 2017 as another way to support the dreams of Native youth: awarding educators grants to meet unmet needs of their Native students. Now, we’ve invited school administrators, teachers, or other educators to apply in partnership with their schools or school districts to receive cash grants to make an even bigger impact in the lives of their Native students. With a Dreamstarter Teacher grant, educators can make lasting positive changes in Native communities!

Dozens of school administrators, teachers, school counselors, and librarians have made a huge, lasting impact in the lives of their students with Dreamstarter Teacher grants. From robotics clubs to class field trips, and from school-wide cultural events to improving school libraries, educators are creating change in their communities by creating opportunities for Native students to grow, learn, and explore.

Dreamstarter Teacher Applications open each spring to educators and school staff to apply for up to $10,000 in grant funds to support their students. Teachers must apply in partnership with a School, District, Non-Profit Organization, Tribal or other Tax Exempt Entity. Applications close the last week of June; successful applicants are notified in early August with the goal to distribute funds mid August for use during the new school year.
