Meet the Dreamstarters

The Dreamstarter program was created in 2015 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Billy Mills’ historic Olympic victory. Dreamstarter is designed to give back to Indian Country by investing in perhaps the most valuable resource in America — our Native youth. Every year since 2015, ten Native youth (along with the local nonprofit of their choice) receive $10,000 grants to implement projects of meaningful change in their communities.

From creating a pre-dental school workshop or developing a local powwow circuit to hosting an immersive Indigenous language camp or planning a summer sports league, there is a community project for every Dreamstarter — and a Dreamstarter in every Native youth.
