“Stepping into the new year, I’m filled with pride and gratitude for all we have accomplished. In 1986, Gene Krizek and I created Running Strong from the ground up, starting with a single seed: the ability to dream. With resilience, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to our mission of uplifting Native Communities, Running Strong was able to grow and has come to flourish. In the past year, we have opened new doors to community centers and food pantries, increased funding for Dreamstarters, and provided critical needs assistance across Indian Country. We look forward to further cultivating positive change in the new year.
The seeds planted in 2023 have sprouted into a garden of possibilities that will be harvested in the new year. In 2024, we will broaden our horizons with a new office in California, bringing a great opportunity to expand our footprint and make new connections. We will continue our work with winter programs, including expanding Heat Match so that more families can stay safe and warm this winter. Spring will bring a new season of growth for our gardens and food security programs, and this summer, we will watch our youth thrive in summer camps on the grounds of the Oyate Ta Kola Ku Community Center, and we will see our new class of Dreamstarters begin to launch their programs. Our donors, our staff, and our community are the roots that allow Running Strong to grow and flourish; because of this, we have a bountiful year ahead of us. Here’s to another year of resilience, dedication, and the beautiful, sometimes unpredictable, journey of growth that awaits.”
