Running Strong helps strengthen American Indian communities across the nation. With a focus on serving American Indian youth, we tackle complex challenges that stem from years of oppression and poverty.
Running Strong’s program involvement reaches far and wide. With our longstanding partnerships in Indian Country, we work to create sustainable change in Native communities. We implement our own programs but we also support independent groups who align with our mission, such as nonprofits, community centers, and grassroots projects.
Running Strong was originally created to bring water to the people of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Now more than 30 years and 500 homes later, we are still devoted to creating water access for all residents.
Running Strong’s organic gardens and food programs bring nutritious meals as well as fruits and vegetables to rural, remote parts of Indian Country, often classified as “food deserts”.
Running Strong helps Native Americans meet their critical survival needs by providing essential items like new coats, hygiene kits, blankets and shoes.
Culture and Language Preservation
Running Strong helps Indian Country preserve their traditional language and culture for future generations.
Running Strong is helping raise a new generation of leaders who demonstrate healthy lifestyles and confidence in their Native American heritage.
