The tour sounds great! But, I don’t want to travel alone.

When is the tour?

September 11-14, 2019. Participants should plan to arrive the evening of September 10, 2019 and depart on Sunday morning, September 15, 2019.

How do I register?

Fill out and mail or fax the attached form or register online at http://indianyouth.org/get-involved/tour-a-reservation before August 1, 2019.

How much does the tour cost?

$730/person for a double occupancy room, $930/person for a single occupancy room. Registrations received before June 30, 2019 will receive a 10% “early bird” discount! All Tour Alumni and Members-in-Good-Standing will receive an additional 5% discount. That is up to a possible 15% discount!

Please note: a Member-in-Good-Standing is someone who has donated to Running Strong in the year 2019.

What do I get for that price? 

Your tour fee covers:

  • Pre-packet of information, including a detailed itinerary and background information about the area and programs to help you get the most from this tour.
  • Your hotel room for five nights, from Tuesday night, September 10 – Saturday night, September 14, 2019
  • Two evenings with Billy Mills
  • The opportunity to participate in a powwow with the community
  •  The chance to visit your favorite Running Strong programs on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation
  • Most meals (except 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and 1 dinner)
  • Air conditioned, fully appointed tour bus
  • Knowledgeable guides
  • Running Strong baseball hat and other goodies
  • Admission fees for all sites and museums
  • Snacks and beverages on the bus
  • Photo of you with Billy Mills, chance to get items autographed
  • Official Tour t-shirt

What other fees am I responsible for? 

Travel to and from Rapid City, South Dakota. All personal expenses, and server, hotel and bus driver gratuities. Some of your meals. Although eating out in South Dakota is not very expensive, please budget accordingly.

People like you! Curious travelers, history buffs, Running Strong staff and supporters, local volunteers and guest speakers.

Why should I go on the tour?

If you’ve ever wanted to meet Billy Mills, see first-hand the programs that you make possible, learn about Lakota culture, learn about American history from another perspective or see a fascinating region of the country, this is the tour for you!

These four days are not just about Running Strong! We will see historic and breathtaking tourist attractions including the Badlands, Black Hills, Crazy Horse, Ft. Robinson, Wounded Knee, Bear Butte and more.

Tour participants are considered Running Strong family! Once you get to Rapid City you will spend four days with people that share your unique interests and who tend to make up one of the nicest and most welcoming groups of people you could ever hope to meet.
